What conditions would exclude someone from being eligible for assisted living?


An assisted living setting is not appropriate for those suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease who

exhibit signs of wandering, elopement, residents who are bed bound or those who require 24-hour nursing care.



What are the house rules?


Pets are welcome to visit our community. If you wish to have a permitted pet, you must sign a pet

agreement form. There is a fee of $100.00 a month. Client must be able to take care for the pet. The pet must

not be a nuisance.


Guests are always welcome. Residents are usually ready to accept visitors between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm.


Residents are requested to sign-out and sign-in at the front office when leaving or returning to the



Consideration of other residents and staff is requested when playing radios and televisions.


The community has a “No Tipping” policy and our employees have been instructed not to accept tips or

gifts from residents or their families or friends. Please show your appreciation through your kind words and

let management know when an employee goes the extra mile.


Residents are expected to interact with other residents and employees in a courteous and respectful manner.

Residents may consume alcohol in the privacy of their suite as long as it does not interfere with other

residents or staff.

Residents who operate motorized wheelchairs or mobility carts are expected to operate and maintain their

equipment as per community policy. These residents are expected to be considerate of other residents,

visitors and staff during operation of their equipment.


Inappropriate behavior in our community will be unacceptable. This is defined as: disrespectful, dangerous,

inconsiderate or otherwise unpleasant behavior.



How are medications handled?


As a resident, you may select any pharmacy you desire. For added convenience many pharmacies provide

delivery service. If we are assisting with self-administration of medication we request that all medications

be packaged in weekly planners. Arrangement for payment of medication is the responsibility of the




Will family members be kept informed by the facility?


Yes, our staff has access to all emergency contact individuals for each resident and we keep in close

contact with each responsible party. We are proud of the close relationships that we have come to form

with the families of our residents.


When are bills due?


Statements are mailed or delivered around the of each month and are due by the 1st day of the following




What are the visiting hours?


Visitors are always welcome at the community. Residents are usually ready to accept visitors between 9:00

am and 8:00 pm. It is crucial that our residents maintain their link with family and friends. Children are

encouraged to visit the community but must be accompanied by an adult.



How big are the apartments?


A two bedroom deluxe is 1,008 square feet, a one bedroom is 426 square feet, a large studio is 367

square feet and a studio is 326 square feet.



Are utilities included in the price?


All utilities are included in room and board base rate, except for the telephone expenses.



What is furnished in the apartment?


Each apartment includes a refrigerator and a microwave.



Can a resident come and go as they please?


Residents are welcome to come and go as they please. The community does ask that they sign in and out

at the front desk. If transportation is required and a staff person is available, a resident may request

transportation at a fee of $15.00 per trip.



What about diet and nutrition?


All diets are prepared by the food services staff under the supervision of the Culinary Director. The

Culinary Director regularly reviews the menus, diets and food service. Food preferences are considered.

Pre-selected menus of well-balanced nutritious meals are provided. We request that residents take their

meals in the dining room. Meal times are as follows: Breakfast: 6:00 am – 8:30 am, Lunch: 11:30 am –

12:30 pm, Supper: 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm.



May I dine with my loved one?


Guests may dine with residents in the dining room, if space permits, for a modest charge. It is requested

that reservations be made in advance. Each resident has five free meals to share with anyone they please

per month. Guest meals will be charged to the residents account or payment can be made in the dining

room. A complete breakfast, lunch or supper costs $7.00.



What if a resident’s condition changes and acute care is needed either long term or for a short period?


If a resident is admitted to a hospital, skilled nursing facility or other health care facility, their apartment will

be held until appropriate notice is given. To hold their apartment, they will continue to be appropriately

charged the full monthly rate. If they do not return, they or their responsible party must provide to the

facility thirty (30) day written notice of intent to vacate and they will be changed the monthly rate. After the

thirty (30) day period, the monthly rate will continue to be charged until their apartment is fully vacated of

all personal belongings.



Who is responsible for laundry?


We provide laundry services to our residents. All items must be properly labeled with the residents name

prior to admission. Washable clothing and bed and bath linens can be laundered by staff. These items will

be collected and redistributed on a weekly basis by the staff. If a resident chooses to launder their own

items, they have access to a laundry room at no extra charge.



Are outside home-health aides allowed in your facility?


If you need or desire assistance from a private duty companion, sitter or third party provider, you and the

provider must abide by Highland Ridge policies and procedures. Your private duty companion, sitter or

third party provider is your sole responsibility and is not a representative or agent of Highland Ridge. You

are solely responsible for selecting, screening and directing such persons, and it is agreed that Highland

Ridge will have no liability or responsibility for the actions of your third party provider.



How much assistance is available to residents?


This community provides personal assistance with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of

daily living. This means assistance with walking, bathing, shaving, brushing teeth, combing hair, dressing,

eating, getting in or out of bed, laundry, cleaning room, obtaining appointments, self-administration of

medications, recreational and leisure activities, preparing meals, making telephone calls and appropriate
